Product Description
An oil catch can is essential on a performance vehicle to protect the engine from elevated levels of crankcase blow-by accumulated from aggressive driving. Excess oil-saturated air circulating back into the air intake stream can lead to degraded performance. Radium Engineering catch cans feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, 2-step oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick.
EVO 8-9 Catch Can Kit Details
Radium Engineering offers several completely independent oil catch can kits for the Evo 8-9 that are sold individually or together using the menu above. All kits work with the OEM strut bar. The first type do NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA), thus are emissions and track legal. Closed loop systems route clean filtered air back in through the engine to be burned and to promote negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors into the cabin. The Crankcase VTA kit does not recirculate crankcase gasses back through the engine and is intended for race vehicles dealing with a large amount of blow-by gasses.
The PCV Catch Can Kit (P/N 20-0116-FL) installs next to the RH strut tower and plumbs in-line between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. This kit maintains the OEM closed system operation of the PCV valve while keeping oil and other contaminants from entering the intake manifold. Note: Because the Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are safe for boosted applications, so connecting to the intake manifold is permitted without a check valve.
Contents of kit 20-0116 are shown below:
What is included in the 20-0116-FL PCV Catch Can Kit:
-Billet oil catch can with integrated condenser and dipstick
-Laser cut anodized RH mounting bracket
-Anodized aluminum hose ends and adapter fittings
-Enough black PCV hose for custom applications
-Stainless steel mounting hardware
The Crankcase Catch Can Kit (P/N 20-0117-FL) installs next to the LH strut tower and plumbs in-line with the crankcase vent hose. This is the hose that connects from the port on the valve cover to the turbo air intake pipe. The catch can will help keep oil out of the intercooler and associated piping. This catch can may be vented to atmosphere, if desired, by purchasing an air filter vent fitting, part number 20-0050 found HERE. However, certain battery configurations may not permit the fitment of the air filter vent directly on the catch can side port.
