The K&N 69-2021TP Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mini Cooper S and Works models. The restrictive factory air filter and air cleaner assembly are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The 69-2021TP air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous upper air cleaner space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine's throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive chrome-like finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory vent lines. A replacement, matching aluminum air inlet tube is installed into the lower air cleaner to provide better air flow as well. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, pliers, ratchet set and some wrenches.
Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.
Cold Air Box The ALTA Cold Air Box is formed from laser cut aluminum sheet metal then CNC bent to perfection. Then finished in a rich black texture powercoating for long term protection and an O.E.M. look. Our airbox seals to the underside of the hood preventing under hood heat from entering the intake airstream.

Foam Filter Our high flow foam filter reduces intake restriction and increases the surface area from which the engine can ingest clean air. Unlike cotton and gauze type filters, foam filters allow for multi-layer filtration. The ALTA Performance foam based filter will trap dirt within the filter at many different levels. This allows for better particulate restriction and will not reduce HP as the filter gets dirty.
Intake Tube (Available on AMP-INT-301) The ALTA silicone inlet hose, connects the air box to the throttle body. With a mirror smooth finish inside and out, the silicone hose promotes increased air velocity traveling to the engine. Unlike the corrugated and ribbed factory inlet hose, turbulence is eliminated additionally the ALTA inlet hose has a larger inside diameter to support the needs of your supercharger at all boost levels.
Silicone Intake Hoses (Available on AMP-INT-301) The ALTA Five-Ply Silicone Elbow included with our intake, is rated for 200psi, and 400 degrees. Like other ALTA products this part is over built to ensure a lifetime of trouble free use. This is one of the key features to our intake as the bend provides the proper MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor reading and ensures no Check Engine Lights.
