Product Description
DSS 2012 Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ / Toyota GT86 Manual 2.75in Carbon Fiber 1-piece Shaft TOSH86-C
The 1-piece driveshaft for the Subaru Impreza WRX with 6-Speed transmission conversion is a complete 6061-T6 3″ aluminum shaft that is approximately 1/2 the weight of the factory 2-piece driveshaft. The 1-piece aluminum shaft features larger, replaceable and greaseable u-joints and can handle about 650WHP and 155 MPH. By removing the factory 2-piece shaft and installing a single shaft the car will feel more responsive due to the lighter weight of the shaft and also the fact that the hanger bearing is not moving up and down during acceleration. Available for most popular motor/trans combinations, if you don’t see yours listed, custom shafts are also available.
ATTENTION 2003-2007 Subaru WRX and STI owners. We have had some warranty issues regarding damaged driveshafts (aluminum and carbon fiber). After some research on our part, we found a common denominator that the driveshafts were damaged 11-12 inches from the differential. The culprit it turns out is either subframe, differential, or transmission mounts/bushings failing and allowing movement of various drivetrain parts resulting in the driveshaft striking the rear brace. As this is not an issue with Driveshaft Shop parts but a maintenance/age issue, we will not be offering warranty for this issue any longer. Regardless if you have one of our driveshafts or not please be aware of this issue for the health of your vehicle and its parts.
Driveshaft Shop Driveshafts are built to handle not only the power of drag and drift cars but also add to the efficiency of these types of racing. Aluminum has been used in drive shafts for years but most people think its just because they are lighter - Were you aware they are more torsional?
By being able to twist more than a steel shaft it will not only make the ride smoother but it will also take some of the harmful shock factor out of the drive train helping to keep up the RPM. This will also help to save most output shafts and other related drive train parts down the line. The aluminum shaft also has a higher resonant frequency than steel (a steel shaft will act as a amplifier of vibration). An aluminum shaft will deaden the vibration due to its characteristics.
